Below are the basic steps that we take when creating a website for our clients. It is important that clients have some understanding of this process. It will help to make the site creation process a lot smoother.
  1. Identify websites similar to the needs of client
Based on selected websites , a general concept / look and feel of the website is developed.
  2. Identify major sections of the website
We categorize the proposed content into a minimized number of sections. A list of sections will help us build our primary menu.
  3. Create a quick layout of the general website
A general layout of the website is created either as a sketch on paper or an image on the computer. At this stage we will get an overview for how the placement of individual elements such as menus and logos will affect the look & feel of the website.
  4. Create a workflow diagram of the website
The workflow diagram helps identify efficiency bottlenecks in the website. We basically trace the action of every click on the website. From this diagram we are able count the number of clicks it takes for a user to navigate from one section to another. We will rearrange links to minimize the number of clicks a user needs to perform to move between sections.
  5. Create a quick layout of all sections
Based on the workflow a layout for every section is created. This will either be sketched on paper or an image on the computer.
  6. Create detail layout of all sections
We convert the quick layout of every section into a detail layout. The result is a collection of computer images that are visually 90% of the actual website sections. In essence, these are screenshots.
  7. Website with placeholder images and minimal interactivity
Programming of the actual website is performed. Only major functionalities are implemented. Custom graphics such as icons and images are temporarily replaced with placeholder images.
  8. Upgrade website to full interactivity
Minor functionalities such as mouse-overs are programmed in.
  9. Replace place holder graphics with actual graphics
Final images and icons are implemented.
  10. Beta Test website
Website is deployed as beta for limited public review. Problems are reported if any. Website is fixed and updated if necessary.
  11. Website is deployed.
Website is deployed as final to the general public. The development of the website is over.
